Morton)<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<h1><b><i>STORK<\/i><\/b><b>\u00a0MAKES FIRST DELIVERIES TO SAVANNAH<\/b><\/h1>\n<p><i>Takes on 3,400 export containers<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Savannah, Ga. \u2013 July 27, 2018 \u2013\u00a0<\/b>The Georgia Ports Authority welcomed the container ship\u00a0<i>Stork<\/i>\u00a0on its maiden voyage Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The vessel, part of the Ocean Network Express (ONE) shipping company, has a capacity of 14,026 twenty-foot equivalent units. The newly built Stork was just delivered to ONE on June 12.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s an honor to welcome this distinctive ship to the Port of Savannah,\u201d said GPA Executive Director Griff Lynch. \u201cVessels in the 14,000-plus range represent the future of global shipping, and play to Savannah\u2019s strengths of space, infrastructure and cargo fluidity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At the 1,200-acre Garden City Terminal, five cranes will move more than 4,000 containers on and off the vessel, including 3,432 export containers and 655 import boxes.<\/p>\n<p>The vessel is the first to call on Savannah featuring the ONE line\u2019s distinctive color.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Magenta is very symbolic of our new company&#8217;s independent and innovative approach to global container shipping,&#8221; said Jeremy Nixon, CEO of the ONE alliance. \u201cMagenta, we also hope, will improve safety, and make the ONE Stork, and her sister-ships, much more visible to all the many other vessels that may pass her in close proximity over the course of her full trading life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the shipping line, the\u00a0<i>Stork<\/i>\u00a0makes use of state-of-the-art vessel design for improved efficiency. The ship\u2019s hull shape allows improved cargo-loading efficiency, achieved by minimized engine-room space.
