Savannah, Ga., April 26, 2017<\/strong> – In honor of National Arbor Day, Georgia Ports Authority Executive Director Griff Lynch will lead a tree planting ceremony Friday at the Port of Savannah.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Garden City Terminal is one of only a few commercial areas in Savannah that host a large stand of mature oaks. The GPA maintains the trees with regular pruning and has installed lightning protection on the oldest trees.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Media are invited to this exclusive opportunity to hear comments and interview officials. Due to the nature of this event, we ask that all media arrive at the event site no later than 10:00 a.m. on April 28. Members of the media will be escorted from GPA’s headquarters building to the on-terminal event site.<\/p>\n

Georgia’s deepwater ports and inland barge terminals support more than 369,000 jobs throughout the state annually and contribute $20.4 billion in income, $84.1 billion in revenue and $2.3 billion in state and local taxes to Georgia’s economy. The Port of Savannah handled 8.2 percent of the U.S. containerized cargo volume and 10.3 percent of all U.S. containerized exports in CY2015.<\/em><\/p>\n

Take West Bay Street to I-516\/S.R. 21 North. Turn right onto on-ramp for I-516\/S.R. 21 North. Proceed about a mile, then take Exit 8. Bear to the right, toward traffic signal at Main Street.\u00a0 Turn left at traffic signal onto Main Street, proceeding to the intersection at Bourne Avenue. Go through the Bourne Ave. intersection, turning right into the circular drive at GPA Administration Building.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
