Updates can be done online <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fmcsa.dot.gov\/registration\/fraudulent-and-misleading-marketing-new-fmcsa-applicants\">via the FMCSA online registration system<\/a> with your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fmcsa.dot.gov\/registration\/request-pin-number\">US DOT PIN<\/a>, or by filing an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fmcsa.dot.gov\/registration\/form-mcs-150-and-instructions-motor-carrier-identification-report\">MCS-150 form<\/a>. \u00a0See below for more information on updating your US DOT number information.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"ckeditor\"><a id=\"biennial-updates\" name=\"biennial-updates\"><\/a>Biennial Updates<\/h3>\n<p>Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) requires all entities under its jurisdiction to update their information every two years. You are required to provide this update every two years\u00a0even if your company has not changed its information, has ceased interstate operations since the last update, or is no longer in business and you did not notify FMCSA.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Failure to complete a Biennial Update will result in deactivation of your USDOT number and may result in civil penalties of up to $1,000 per day, not to exceed $10,000.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Updating your information is free. If the next-to-last digit of the USDOT Number is even, the motor carrier or intermodal equipment provider shall file its update in every even-numbered calendar year.<\/p>\n<h3><a id=\"Update-Online\" name=\"Update-Online\"><\/a>Update Online<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>In order to complete the registration online, you&#8217;ll need your USDOT number, assigned PIN, EIN\/SSN, and Company Official information. You can <a href=\"https:\/\/cms.fmcsa.dot.gov\/registration\/request-pin-number\">request a PIN mailed or e-mailed to you.<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Carriers needing to complete the Motor Carrier Identification Report (MCS-150) OR the Combined Identification and Hazardous Materials Safety Permit Application (MCS-150B) may do so <a href=\"https:\/\/cms.fmcsa.dot.gov\/registration\/fraudulent-and-misleading-marketing-new-fmcsa-applicants\">online through the FMCSA Registration Website<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Print an updated MCS-150 form for your records upon completion of the online registration if you prefer a hard copy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><a id=\"Update-Mail\" name=\"Update-Mail\"><\/a>Unable to Complete Online? No Problem.<\/h3>\n<p>If the carrier doesn\u2019t have a USDOT PIN number, and their mailing address in MCMIS is outdated, they can\u2019t submit a request for a PIN number to be mailed to them. They have 2 options:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Submit a <a href=\"https:\/\/cms.fmcsa.dot.gov\/registration\/form-mcs-150-and-instructions-motor-carrier-identification-report\">completed and signed MCS-150<\/a> via\u00a0Fax<\/li>\n<li>Submit a completed\u00a0MCS-150 via\u00a0US Mail<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/ask.fmcsa.dot.gov\/app\/ask\">Scan and upload a completed, printed and signed MCS-150 to our web form<\/a>\u00a0(this is the best option and will provide you with a tracking number for your submission)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Fax<\/h3>\n<p>Send to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>202-366-3477<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>U.S. Mail<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Important note for hard copy registrations:\u00a0<\/strong>Forms must be received by FMCSA on or before the date your Biennial Update is due to avoid deactivation of your USDOT number and the assessment of civil penalties.
